Prologue
You, an experienced Planeswalker, have traveled far and wide into various planes of the multiverse.
But this one feels… different.
It’s filled with Chocobos!
It was love at first sight.
Your goal in this world now is to capture (how cruel!) as many Chocobos as possible.
The skinny ones, the cute ones, the ugly ones, and especially… the FAT ones.
And possibly some of their friends too… :(
Unfortunately, or rather, unavoidably, there are also other Planswalkers in this world with the same goal in mind.
You must use what you’ve learned as a Planswalker to collect as many Chocobos as possible… before they are all captured!
- Setup -
Each player starts with an equivalent (but not the same) pool of Magic the Gathering cards, chosen at random, and must build a deck of minimum 40 cards.
All standard MTG rules apply, except: all cards you have obtained is in your pool, and all cards not in your deck is in your sideboard (there is no card limit to your sideboard).
- Gameplay -
Play Match
Players will play a best-out-of-1-game match.
Obtain Chocobos and Moogles
The winning player of the match obtains 2 Normal Chocobos, and the other player obtains 1 Normal Chocobo.
Players can now exchange 4 Normal Chocobos for a Fat Chocobo or a Moogle - winner goes first.
A player can NOT have more than 3 Fat Chocobos. There are only 5 Fat Chocobos in this game, but an unlimited amount of Moogles.
Obtain Memory Tokens
After obtaining the Chocobos and/or Moogles, the winning of the match obtains:
8 memory tokens, plus 1 extra memory token for each Fat Chocobo and Moogle the player has
The other player obtains:
10 memory tokens, plus 1 extra memory token for each Fat Chocobo (not Moogles) the player has
Exchange for Memory Packs
In between matches, players are given the opportunity to explore deep within their minds to unlock powerful spells, in the form of memory packs (booster packs).
These memory packs will contain spells of different power levels, and will require different amounts of memory tokens to unlock.
The number of memory tokens required for different memory packs can be found in the “Available Memories” section.
The winner of the previous match has the option to unlock 1 available memory pack by paying the required amount of memory tokens.
Whether the winner unlocks a memory pack or not, the other player now has the option to unlock a memory pack by paying the required amount of memory tokens.
This process continues until both players have passed on obtaining any memory packs.
Deck Building
Players can now open their newly obtained memory packs, if any, add those cards to their pool, and modify their decks using all cards available in their pool.
Play Matches
Players continue playing matches with the same rules above.
When all of the memory packs are depleted, players play 1 final match. The game then ends.
- End of Game Scoring -
A Normal Chocobo is worth 1 victory point, a Moogle is worth 4 victory points, and a Fat Chocobo is worth 5 victory points.
The player with the most victory point is declared the Chocobo Master!
